Allow me to wade back into the pool, floaties on...

Marquinho

Rumors of a dalliance coming to blossom for 3.5m (ho'). I like it. I like him. I don't really know what he does, what his actual purpose is, but I like him. He's a lot like toothpaste in this regard.

Though he's actually become a bit like Perrotta in others (flying runs into the center of the box and all that nonsense). The only difference is not being able to finish from forty yards is a lot more forgivable than not being able to do so from a stiff breath in front of the keeper.

Alessandro Florenzi

Thisclose to returning.

In some respects, this could look more like a daycare than during Enrique's tenure. And much like real daycare, the barking, wrinkled overseer will be dusting them all with pulmonary issues from second-hand smoke. Symmetry.

Mattia Destro

Sixteen million total for the right to both halves of Destro, or so they say. And everyone knows who remains his biggest crush. This would seem like a solid purchase, but then so didn't Julio Baptista, Pogs and that linen blazer still hanging in the closet with the tags on for obvious reasons.

Fabrizio Grillo

This, my dear friends, is the story. Perhaps the foreword to a great story, but at the very least a romantic's story with a background touched upon early last year on these very shores.

Fabrizio Grillo is linked to Rome. He's been in Rome, of Roma, of Lazio, before. He's never likely to banish competition from La Nazionale's leftback spot, but he is indeed a rare, soul-jerking story. He's said he would walk to Rome. That he currently suits up in Varese makes this no small offer.

We don't watch for the trophies. We watch for the narrative - glory is simply a well-written plot's most common endpoint.
