We're nearly at the 11th hour of the winter transfer window, and while Roma hasn't made any moves yet, the rumor mill portends a potentially busy and controversial week for the Giallorossi, as our very own CdT lovechild Mattia Destro may be days away from leaving the club.
The week's rumors kicked off with suggestions that Roma has two pending deals, both of which revolve around young Mr. Right. With one nicotine stained hand reportedly securing a deal for Shakhtar Donetsk striker Luiz Adriano while the other pushes Mattia Destro to AC Milan, it would appear as though Walter Sabatini has some last minute wheeling and dealing planned for this week; deals with tremendous implications in the short and long run.
However, ask anyone who has bought or sold a house on contingency how these sorts of deals work out; often times they don't. The bid on your dream house may have been accepted, but in the time it takes to flip that three bedroom starter home, J.D. Rockefeller swoops in and steals your little slice of heaven for a few grand more. It's not fair, its heart wrenching, but these things tend to happen when you're working both sides of the fence.
So don't go throwing away your #22 shirts just yet, this is far from over. Besides which, with rumors that Franco Baldini and Spurs are angling for Destro, his sale may not be so unilateral, and then, of course, there are the ever present Stevan Jovetic-to-Roma wet dreams. Following their splurge for Wilfried Bony earlier this month, Manchester City may need to make a corresponding sale, and injuries or not, Jovetic would be a hell of an addition to this squad.
As always, stay tuned, this promises to be an interesting week.
