Where Are They Now: Roma Loanee Update 11/16

Many Roma loanees saw action in the month of October (and the early part of November), and several delivered clutch performances that should earn those players even more playing time after the international break.

Lukasz Skorupski

Skorupski has started every match for Empoli, and the goalkeeper recorded two clean sheets out of a possible four in the month of October. Skorupski also has one clean sheet in November thus far. If he keeps his play up, Skorupski could be a dark horse candidate for the goalkeeper position at Roma next year.

Matteo Ricci

Ricci has been a constant presence in Pisa's starting lineup since joining on loan at the end of the summer. The midfielder has turned in some sterling performances in November, scoring a goal and tallying an assist in the club's first three matches this month.

Luca Mazzitelli

Mazzitelli had an excellent October, coming up with assists in back to back games for Brescia. Like Ricci, Mazzitelli has started a lot since going on loan at the end of the summer. One thing to watch out for though is the midfielder's lack of discipline; he received a yellow card in four out of the five matches he played in October, and subsequently missed one due to yellow card accumulation.

Adem Ljajic

CDT's favorite Roma castaway has been playing a lot recently compared to earlier in the campaign. Ljajic assisted the lone goal in Inter's 1-0 victory over Bologna at the end of October; hopefully Sabatini can swap Iturbe for Ljajic in January without Inter manager Roberto Mancini or anyone else noticing.

Federico Ricci

The other Ricci simply balled out in October. The winger netted two goals in Crotone's 4-0 victory over Salernitana in early October, and followed that up with another goal and an assist later in the month. Ricci has carried his excellent form into November, scoring yet again in a match last week.

Note * Forward Antonio Sanabria was ruled out for six weeks on October 19th

Although he's not on out on loan, here's a link to forward Sadiq Umar's hat trick for the primavera squad in their 5-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Youth League recently. Umar, along with fellow Nigerian Abdullahi Nura (who plays right back) seem to be stars in the making for Roma.
