With his Roma future in doubt, news broke this morning that Roma may be close to an agreement with Inter for the sale of Kostas Manolas. According to Calciomercato, the deal, worth a reported €42 million, has yet to be finalized and there are no details on whether the player will be moving this January or in the summer.
This transfer, if it does happen, would leave this Romanista disheartened, to say the least, and asking more questions about what Pallotta’s aim is with our club. It is one thing to sell to a EPL team, which is what I thought was going to happen this summer, but to Inter? Inter?! And in January?! I thought those days were behind us. Weren’t we supposed to be fighting tooth and nail for the Scudetto?
However, maybe it’s not Pallotta’s fault. Such an egregious deal would probably indicate that K.M. was willing to break down the door to escape Roma, which makes me wonder what exactly is going on at Trigoria and why the club has not done all it could to make this dude happy.
There are still a lot of questions to be answered and nothing is finalized yet. Until we know more let’s keep some hope alive that this is nothing more a rumor spun out of control.
