Eusebio Di Francesco’s 21-man squad list for Friday’s clash against SPAL has left out both Diego Perotti and Radja Nainggolan, citing minor injuries to the pair. In his pre-match interview, EDF discussed the muscle fatigue that Radja is currently experiencing, referencing his groin injury while with the Belgium NT, and the resulting effect that had in combination with playing several matches in a row. He is expected to rejoin the squad in training this upcoming Saturday or Sunday.
Perotti also did not fully train this week, battling some fatigue as well. EDF was less clear in his pre-match conference about Diego’s availability, yet ultimately decided to leave the Argentinean off the match-day squad.
In the absence of both men, EDF has pegged one of Patrik Schick or Cengiz Under to start on Friday. A match against a team in the relegation zone is the perfect opportunity for EDF to assess how far along the pair are in their development.
