Thanks to their steadfast performances against Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Qarabag—in which they only lost once—Roma emerged from the group stages of the Champions League gloriously perched atop group C; a feat few among us envisioned when they were drawn into the proverbial group of death late in the summer.
While Roma’s domestic campaign has sputtered a bit over the past couple weeks, their Champions League dreams are alive and well. Roma has reached this point many times in the past, but recent memory—losses to Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk—has left us all a bit scared and wary of who they’ll draw next.
So, whether it’s Real Madrid (please god not again) or Basel or Bayern Munich, returning to this stage of the game is progress for Roma, so let’s be thankful we even have this event to stress over.
I’m writing this on Sunday night, so this live link may or may not work come morning, but UEFA will stream the event live at 6 a.m. eastern.
