Prima Pagina: Corriere dello Sport - Rome Edition
English summary: Yeah, speaks for itself. Manolas (and potentially) Paredes to Zenit. Then begins the rebuild of Rome, with Suso (ugh) and Seri (WHY???) on the cover.
Calciomercato Roma, imminente il blitz in Olanda per chiudere l'operazione Karsdorp (romaforever.it)
English summary: Monchi and Baldassoni are expected to board a plane to Rotterdam within the next 48 hour to close the Karsdorp deal. Should only be a matter of time until we get the official
Difesa, un’altra rivoluzione. Dopo Szczesny e Manolas ai saluti anche Peres e Rui (romanews.eu)
English summary: Monchi’s defensive revolution! You all know the story by now, with Kostas Manolas seeming closer and closer to Zenit by the day. Woj’s loan is up and he won’t be redeemed. Therefore, it will be yet another summer of a revolving backline for Roma.
Bruno Peres will be redeemed from Torino for an obligatory 12.5 million Euros, with the same happening to Mario Rui from Empoli for 6 million. With Karsdorp on his way in, Peres seems to be on his way out. The club are rumored to be listening to every and all offers. Rui, on the other hand, originally said he would stay if Spalletti quit. Now, his agent is pushing for a move to Napoli to reunite the player with his ex-manager Maurizio Sarri. Meetings will take place on Monday to discuss the move.
As for goalkeeper, that’s an entirely different story. Apparently Monchi has promised minutes to Skorupski (probably something along the lines of what Alisson did last year aka all of da cups) but Lukasz wants to be numbah one! I can’t blame him; he’s been outstanding at Empoli the past two seasons and if I were EDF, Pinzolo would be like an old fashioned college football quarterback competition: let him and Alisson fight it out for the top spot. Anyway, if Roma were to sell him, rumors say they would get around 7 million.
Oh, and the herpes that is Seydou Doumbia has turned down the proposed loan move to Sporting, saying he prefers Fenerbache. When will this end?!? (Probably never, because that shit will come back)
Mercato Roma, tutto fatto per Pellegrini: si attende solo la firma dei contratti. Operazione da 10 milioni (gazzettagiallorossa)
English summary: Pellegrini’s move back to Roma is basically official! All of the documents between the two clubs have been signed and exchanged for the 10 million buy back clause. All they need now is a signature from Lorenzo, who will complete the task once he returns from the U21 Euros. That could happen as early as today, as Italy look almost certain to not advance out of their group. They play against Germany at 2:45 PM ET.

(Is it just me, or does anyone else really wanna go to one of these things ASAP? Damn, it’s gonna be great having the Curva back for a full season)
Match of the Morning:
Maicon has made his return to football after a year plus hiatus! Unfortunately for the ex-Roma RB, it was quite the disaster: two own goals (one was more of a deflection) and jeered off the pitch in a 3-0 loss to Fluminense. Maicon has a certain Roma-esque quality to him. A guy who had an incredible career, arguably one of the top 10 RBs of all time. However, it’s three matches where he was absolutely shambolic that he will be mostly remembered for: the Gareth Bale matches and Germany 7 Brazil 1, and now, maybe even this:
Even he can’t believe his own performance! Heck, Dzeko is so embarrassed for Maicon he’s hiding behind the post!
