Earlier today, we reported on the busy medical room at Trigoria. The list of injured players increased with the additions of Kostas Manolas and Daniele De Rossi after Saturday’s Derby del Sole draw at Napoli. With the club already licking those fresh wounds, I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise that the Roma walking wounded gained another member today.
Reports indicate that young defender Luca Pellegrini was injured during training. Fortunately for both player and club, the injury is unrelated to the knee injury that kept Pellegrini out all of last season. Luca injured his left ankle during today’s partitella. The teenager was said to have gone down in obvious pain and had to be helped off the pitch by the medical staff. It’s unclear just how serious the injury is, but it seems a forgone conclusion that Pellegrini will miss at least Saturday’s Fiorentina match. How much time he misses after that will be determined after a series of tests is run to diagnosis the extent of the injury.
