Roma enters match day 12 riding the momentum of another Champions League victory. After solidifying their chances of progressing to the Champions League knockout stage, the Giallorossi will look to improve their chances of returning to European competition next season. In order to do that EDF will have to run out a lineup without captain Daniele De Rossi for the third straight match. Roma will also be without the services of Luca Pellegrini and Javier Pastore.

After Wednesday’s Champions League match in Moscow, there will some turnover in the starting XI. Most notable of which will be the inclusion of Patrik Schick from the opening whistle; something that Romanisti have been clamoring for. Di Francesco confirmed Schick’s start in his Saturday press conference. In all likelihood Dzeko will be rested and Schick will lead the line. However, EDF didn’t rule out Edin Dzeko and Schick starting together.

Playing behind Schick will be Lorenzo Pellegrini in the trequartista role that he has made his own over the last month. Playing to Pellegrini’s right will be Cengiz Ünder who came on as a substitute in Moscow. There are some question marks about who will flank Pellegrini to the left. Most reports out of the peninsula believe that EDF is leaning toward Justin Kluivert over Stephan El Shaarawy.

Sitting deep in the midfield will be Steven N’Zonzi and Bryan Cristante. However, EDF did say that youngster Ante Coric has been practicing and improving in that role, meaning that he could be an option later in the season to spell N’Zonzi. Wednesday goalscorer Kostas Manolas will start in the center of defense, likely flanked by Juan Jesus. Meanwhile, Aleksander Kolarov and Alessandro Florenzi will take up the fullback positions. Rounding out the XI will be keeper Robin Olsen.

Roma (4-2-3-1): Olsen; Florenzi, Manolas, Juan Jesus, Kolarov; Nzonzi, Cristante; Under, Pellegrini, Kluivert; Schick.

Sampdoria (4-3-1-2): Audero; Bereszynski, Tonelli, Andersen, Murru; Linetty, Ekdal, Praet; Saponara; Defrel, Quagliarella.
