After Wednesday’s decisive vanquishing of Frosinone at the Olimpico, don’t expect EdF to shake things up much. In a derby that could be decisive in keeping the ship pointed in the right direction, the coach will again employ the 4-2-3-1. The majority of the personnel will remain intact, as well, as Roma look to carry over their momentum from last outing. However, there will likely be two changes. First, Alessandro Florenzi will regain his starting spot in the back four, replacing Davide Santon, who had a solid match. Meanwhile, Edin Dzeko will lead the line, replacing Patrik Schick, who was underwhelming versus Frosinone.
The formation seemed to suit Roma’s personnel well. Daniele De Rossi and Steven N’Zonzi bossed the midfield in front of the back four, which allowed Javier Pastore to make full use of his creativity. Meanwhile, Stephan El Shaarawy and Cengiz Under were decisive on the wings. EdF will hope that Dzeko is more clinical than Schick to make the attack even more lethal than it was Wednesday. Meanwhile, Lazio will likely look to counter with a 3-5-2. Projected lineups can be seen below, courtesy of corrieredellosport.it.
