The muscle injury bug has bitten Roma yet again. For the umpteenth time this season a Roma player has either withdrawn from a training session or match due to a muscle issue. This time the unlucky man is Stephan El Shaarawy. {Editor's note; This is the 46th muscular injury of the year!}
Yesterday in training El Shaarawy felt discomfort in his right calf and as a result missed out on training today. Corriere dello Sport reported that El Shaarawy went through personalized work today, in the hope that he can be ready for Saturday. However, with such a short time before the match, Il Faraone is doubtful at best. He will undergo further tests Friday in order to verify his availability for Saturday. El Shaarawy was favored to start out wide on the left against the Nerazzurri, so if he’s not ready to go then Ranieri will likely have to decide between Justin Kluivert and Diego Perotti.
Roma will already be without its arguably most crucial player in the form of Captain Daniele De Rossi on Saturday when the Giallorossi travel to the San Siro. Now, the Giallorossi may also be without probably their most influential attacking player this season. De Rossi is the glue that has held the Roma midfield together, while El Shaarawy has been the spark plug in attack.
That double blow could be a lot to overcome for Ranieri’s men overcome against third place Inter on the road. Fingers crossed that Il Faraone will be ready to go.
