Roma Look to Salvage Something Against Fiorentina

New, comments

This didn’t go too well last time.

Bren might have put it best in his last post-match review when he said that Roma “Might as well start the summer now. This season is over.” Despite the repeated missteps by seemingly every club fighting for that last Champions League spot, you’d have to be pretty naive to think this Roma have a prayer of returning to Europe’s biggest stage next season. Nevertheless, there are eight matches left before the start of the summer mercato. I’m just hoping they aren’t too painful to watch.

Last Matchup: AC Fiorentina 7 - AS Roma 1

Ugh. That’s all I have to say. Ugh.

Looking Ahead

Given the poor form Roma has maintained since sacking Eusebio Di Francesco and hiring Claudio Ranieri, it’s incredibly unlikely that Ranieri will be asked to return to the sidelines for the 2019/2020 season. There are some pretty crazy rumors out there right now concerning who will be taking over the management role, with the dynamic duo of Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi even being floated as a DS/Manager pairing by Corriere Dello Sport. We’ll obviously talk more about that in the near future (particularly if that smoke turns into anything closely resembling fire), but at least for now, we can confidently say that the Roma we watch tomorrow will probably not exist by the time September rolls around. Get ready for another huge rebuild, Roma... 5.0, at this point?

I expect a loss against Fiorentina. I just hope it’s a low-scoring one, and that Ranieri gives the younger players a chance to shine.
