Over the past three months we've poured over a lot of names in these spaces—Mattia Perin, Mauro Icardi, Mario Mandzukic, Alessio Cragno, Fernando Llorente, Toby Alderweireld, Augstin Almedra, Mariano Diaz, Gonzalo Higuain, Daniele Rugani, Nicolo Barella, Marc Barta, Patrick Cutrone, Andrea Belotti and even Malcom again—and now it all comes to this: transfer deadline day.
Roma's new Director of Sport Gianluca Petrachi did a lot of work in the middle of the summer to round out Paulo Fonseca's squad, bringing in the likes of Amadou Diawara, Gianluca Mancini and Pau Lopez among othres, and he even managed to shed a bit of dead weight, but finding those last few pieces has proven difficult. After combing through the ranks of defenders and reserve attackers throughout Europe, Petrachi settled on Chris Smalling and Nikola Kalinic, each of whom has (or will today) sign on with Roma for a one-year hitch.
Late last night we discussed the possible addition of Henrikh Mkhitaryan as well as the departure of Patrik Schick, neither of which has been officially completed but should be wrapped up prior to the 22:00 CET deadline.
So, stick with us on deadline day and feel free to share any rumors that may pop up.
