Just yesterday Roma announced the contract extension of one of its senatori, Aleksandar Kolarov. While Kolarov’s extension is well-deserved and critical due to the Giallorossi’s full back issues, he is at the tail end of his career. Today, Roma announced the extension of one of its younger players, likely with a more long term future with the club, Bryan Cristante.

Cristante, who arrived 18 months ago from Atalanta, has missed considerable time due to injury this season. However, last season he was the only outfield player not to miss time due to physics ailments, becoming a key member of the Roma midfield. The 24-year-old Italian will look to regain an important role in Fonseca’s side after returning to full training this week.

Cristante’s extension will link him to the club for another four and a half seasons, as it expires in June of 2024. To this point, Cristante has made 54 appearances for the Giallorossi, scoring 5 goals.

Cristante and Roma DS Gianluca Petrachi expressed their contentment with the extension.

“I’m delighted to renew my contract,” Cristante said. “This is where I want to be, to keep on improving; I believe in the project we are building here and I think it can be very successful.”

“I was well aware of Bryan’s technical ability even before I came to Roma,” said club sporting director Gianluca Petrachi. “Once I got here, I also had the chance to observe and appreciate the dedication and drive he brings to his work every day.”

Next up on the cards for Petrachi should be an extension for Roma’s new Capitano Futuro, Lorenzo Pellegrini, so keep an eye out for that one.
