Given that Roma were squaring off against top of the table AC Milan, who just so happened to be riding a 21 match unbeaten streak (including a perfect start to the season), there were no shortage of storylines going into this game. And after a card addled match in which referee Piero Giacomelli reached for his pocket five times in the second half and awarded two controversial penalties (one to each club), there are no shortage of storylines coming out of this match either.
While Roma fell prey to Zlatan Ibrahimovic in only the second minute of the match, they struck back twelve minutes later thanks to a towering header from Edin Dzeko. Roma would scratch their way back into the match two more times, scoring a final equalizer in the 84th minute.
The match wasn't quite as crazy as the 3-3 scoreline suggests, but the match nearly came off the rails late in the second half thanks to Giacomelli's questionable decisions.
