The match-ups don’t get much juicier than Roma’s trip to Bergamo to face Atalanta on Sunday. The Nerazzurri have essentially replaced Roma in the Champions League over the last two seasons and the Giallorossi desperately want to reclaim one of the four spots allocated to Italian clubs. If that is ultimately to happen, Roma will have to start taking maximum points off of the “Top 6”.
What better way to end the disappointing trend than to start against Atalanta in Bergamo? The Giallorossi enter this match in great form with a fit roster—something we don’t get to say every day. But, despite the recent reports of trouble brewing in paradise between Giampiero Gasperini and Papu Gomez, La Dea will be a tough nut to crack. So, to get the lowdown on all that’s been happening with Atalanta, I brought on special guest Dan Pezzotta of the Las Vegas Atalanta Supporters Group and the Atalanta Pod.
Besides looking ahead to the big match on Sunday, Dan and I discussed the following:
- Where did his love for La Dea begin?
- Atalanta’s success in recent seasons
- The latest on the locker room drama
- Is Gasperini or Papu more important to the club?
- Gasperini’s Football
- Players who have left the club
