Roma's opening round draw against Hellas Verona was a frustrating 90 minute affair in which the Giallorossi traded moments of brilliance for large swaths of indecision and inefficiency. New signing Pedro started and played 90 minutes in his first appearance in a Roma shirt and paired with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Lorenzo Pellegrini in attack, showcasing some pretty quick passing and intuitive movement in the early phases of this match.
Unfortunately, that inspiration wouldn't last long as Roma were plagued by heavy leg syndrome in the second half, nearly succumbing to a decidedly more aggressive Verona side in the second half. But, thanks the woodwork (twice!), Roma averted disaster, sharing points with the Mastiffs in a scoreless draw to kick off the new season.
There will surely be more exciting and more agonizing matches to come this season, but for now relive your first taste of the 2020-2021 season.
