On Sunday at the Olimpico, the Giallorossi battled second-place Inter until the bitter end and managed to pull out a late draw. On paper, it was a good result, but it’s another piece of ammunition for Paulo Fonseca’s detractors, as Roma failed to beat yet another big side. However, the draw should come as no surprise as it’s the sixth consecutive time these sides have shared the spoils.
So, while this may have been a missed opportunity for Roma to climb to second in the table, the draw also means Roma remain third ahead of Atalanta, Juve, and Napoli. In this episode, Sean and I break down all of the key moments, key players, and tactical decisions that led to Roma and Inter each walking away with a point.
Listen to hear us discuss:
- Roma’s zonal marking
- Conte’s tactical adjustments
- Veretout’s work rate
- Dzeko’s subpar performance
- Lopez stepping up
- the Smalling-Lukaku battle
- Cristante’s role in the squad
- Villar’s maturation
- Mancini’s clutch goal
- Plus, is Fonseca afraid of Dzeko?
