If there's one thing Roma fans love, it's local kids suiting up for the club. While the days of the Giallorossi roster being laden with Romans are likely gone, the Giallorosse still sports more than a few homegrown talents, including club captain Elisa Bartoli and U-23 starlet Giada Greggi. And earlier today, the club announced a new deal for another Roman, midfielder Claudia Ciccotti.

Just a few days after scoring a cracking goal in Roma's 4-3 victory over Inter Milan, Roma has signed Claudia Ciccotti to a new contract, one that will see the Roman midfielder remain with the club through 2023. Ciccotti, 27-years-old, has been with Roma since its inception in 2018 and has made 41 appearances for the Giallorosse, scoring five goals along the way.
Several weeks ago, when announcing Bartoli's new deal, Roma's club captain immediately spoke about the thrill of representing her hometown club, a sentiment Ciccotti echoed earlier today:
Three years ago I was given the chance to realise a dream that I had ever since I was a child: play for Roma...I am delighted to be able to continue to live that dream, to still be given the possibility and privilege to fight for the club I love so much.
I'm always a bit reticent to draw comparisons between Roma's two senior teams, but watch Ciccotti play for even just a few minutes and tell me you don't see shades of Daniele De Rossi. From the number on their backs to their combative style of play, the willingness to do all the dirty work, and their ability to score cracking goals from distance, De Rossi and Ciccotti are definitely cut from the same Roman cloth.
Ciccotti and Roma welcome San Marino to the Tre Fontane tomorrow for the club's Round 17 matchup.
