To say that Roma is entering the Europa League semifinals under less than ideal circumstances would be an understatement. Faced with dwindling domestic results over the past several weeks, including defeats to relegation-battling clubs like Torino and Cagliari, and with their Champions League lifeline (and likely Paulo Fonseca's future in Rome) resting on winning the Europa League, the odds are certainly stacked against Roma as they head to Old Trafford today.
Fortunately for Roma, the odds don't actually determine the score; that's settled on the pitch. And by playing the first leg on the road, Roma could actually find an advantage if they're able to score an upset over Manchester United, or even if they grab a few precious away goals in a narrow loss.
The lineups are in, so let's see if Roma is in an upsetting mood!
