Highlights of Roma's 1-0 Win Over Udinese

A match almost as ugly as the wounds on Mancini's face.

Despite Roma's victory this evening, it's hard to feel completely satisfied with the Giallorossi's performance against Udinese. In a match almost as ugly as the gash on Gianluca Mancini's face, Roma were once again demonized by their dual 2021 nemeses: the woodwork, which they struck twice early in the first half, and fatigue in the midfield, which slowed Roma's attack down to a crawl.

While Udinese have fared better than most experts predicted in the early stages of the season, we're still talking about a midtable club that conceded six goals in their first four matches prior to tonight's kickoff in the capital. And when you consider that José Mourinho's men have been pumping in goals at an astounding rate—11 goals through their first four league fixtures—this had the makings of another lopsided victory for Roma.

But, that's why they play the matches, right? With chances going wasted, costly turnovers, and heavy legs infecting the squad, Roma nearly gave this match right back to Udinese multiple times in the second half.

In the end, Roma did just enough to scrape three points from this match. So, just in case you missed the action this evening, please enjoy the highlights below—an extended edition is also available if you really want to get lost in the weeds.
