Yesterday, three players from the Primavera squad featured in Roma's 3-0 victory against Sheriff FC in the Europa League, including a debut goal for 19-year-old Roman Niccolo Pisilli, whose beaming smile was plastered all over social media on Thursday. Considering that, it's only fitting that the club announced a new contract for Edoardo Bove, one of the most promising academy graduates since Daniele De Rossi two decades ago. Bove, who was ranked as the top player in our annual U-23 countdown, has been a key player for José Mourinho this season.

Bove, 21, made his club debut at the tail end of the 2020-2021 season and has seen his role increase year after year, garnering 13 league appearances so far this year, including eight starts. While he's still learning on the job, Bove's future is incredibly bright, and earlier today, the club signed the young Roman to a new deal.

While the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, this new deal will keep Bove with the club of his birth through 2028, adding three years to his prior contract. Speaking to the official club site, Bove spoke briefly about his transition from prospect to first-team player:

Penning a new deal means the world to me," declared Edoardo. "I joined Roma when I was just a child and still to this day I get emotional thinking about the first time I stepped into the Fulvio Bernardini.

"I've learnt more about the magnitude of where I'm at and I'd like to thank the club for what it has done for me, and for giving me the opportunity to carry on my journey as part of the Giallarossi family."

Check back this weekend as Bove and the Giallorossi face fifth-place Bologna in a critical six-pointer at Renato Dall'Ara Stadium.
