Most of the time, transfer rumors move like a dying river, slowly working their way downstream, meandering around a few pebbles, but seldom moving with their former ferocity; entropy is the name of the game for most rumors. But you know what they say, when it rains it pours. Minutes after posting our discussion about yet another Riyad Mahrez alternative, in this instance Juventus’ Juan Cuadrado, a flush of updates came bursting out, overflowing the banks of our river simile.

Football Italia has picked up on some Sky Sports Italia reports that seem to indicate progress has been made between Roma and Leicester City for Riyad Mahrez. According to those reports, it seems as though the rumored €35 million plus bonuses deal is suddenly becoming more palatable to the Foxes, primarily because Mahrez has subtly pushed for a move away from Fosse Road, while Leicester are in advanced negotiations for his replacement, Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho.
Of course, we’re still miles away from an official deal, especially if this hinges upon Leicester City swinging a deal with one of their domestic counterparts, but it is progress nevertheless.
More updates as they become available, but if this is going down, it needs to happen ASAP, opening day is THREE WEEKS FROM TODAY!
