There’s no doubt about it. Roma have been busy during the summer transfer window. Monchi has brought in 12 players, practically half of a squad. Nzonzi, Coric, Marcano, Cristante, Justin Kluivert, Mirante, Santon, Zaniolo, Bianda, Pastore, Olsen, and Fuzato have all found their way to the Italian Capital this summer. Meanwhile, rumors continue to persist that Roma could still add another right winger to satisfy EdF’s desire for a left-footed player at that position However, according to reports in Gazzetta dello Sport, that won’t be happening
While they have been bringing in player after player, Roma have only bid farewell to two of their regulars; Nainggolan and Alisson. Once you start doing the math it becomes clear that some more exits are likely before Friday’s transfer deadline. The daily sports publication claims that trimming the roster before Friday is now Monchi’s main objective after Nzonzi’s arrival on Monday.
According to the report, with five center backs on the roster, an exit for Juan Jesus could become attractive. Additionally, a midfielder is likely to go with nine in the fold and only three starting spots available. The most likely candidates to go in the center of the park would be Gonalons or Zaniolo. With Nzonzi in the mix Gonalons is unlikely to see time and I’m sure Monchi will shop him hard. Meanwhile, Roma could look to offload Zaniolo on loan to get him playing time. The publication says that a forward could also be moved, likely Perotti. However, I don’t see that happening if another winger isn’t brought in.
With just three days left in the mercato it looks like Monchi will stay busy for a few more days
